Rap star Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels  tells a fascinating and touching story  about singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan saving him from suicide.

Darryl "DMC" McDaniels Tells His Story On the Moth's Tour in Cleveland for the Show “When World's Collide” This is his story: "I've been on this earth for 35 years and 10 years ago I'm sittin' there and I'm like 'Yo, am I here just to be DMC?' First to go Gold, first to go Platinum, did all of this. Grew up in Hollis, Queens, I went to the best Catholic schools all my life, Catholic elementary, Catholic high school, I went to St. Johns University. Okay, it was Christmas for me everyday growing up as a kid. I was spoiled. Best life a kid could have. Now I become DMC with Joey, who was just Joey, but now we're Run DMC and we go on to spearhead the whole hip-hop movement and we go on to fortune and fame. So I'm sittin' over in Europe 10 years ago and sayin' 'Somethin' ain't right here. Somethin' is missin'. But I couldn't put my finger on it. So I said to myself--not that I wasn't happy with the way things were goin' and I wasn't grateful for all of my accomplishments, but I said 'Okay, I'm gonna commit suicide.' Why? Probably because I was unhappy with 'if this is all I'm gonna get out of this life, I can't stay here. I'm ready to move on to my next plane of existence. There's gotta be more to this. People were like 'D, you're crazy! You're f-----' DMC. You've got a wife, kids, life is beautiful.' I said, 'All of that is lovely, but there's something else that is missing.'"This was in '97 and I said 'When I get home from Europe…' I was in Europe and Run DMC, without havin' a hit record or video, we're over in Europe getting' a hundred grand a night. Life can't be better than that s---. I don't give a f--- if somebody knows nuthin' about my music, we're the f-----' Rolling Stones, we're the f-----' Beatles of hip-hop. A lotta rappers, after they sell their 21 million two years from now you ain't gonna care about these muthaf-----. It don't get no better than that. Me, Run, and Jay, we were able to tour until we were 85. People would still comes see us doin' "It's Like That" [as old men]. But I said 'When I get home, I'm gonna commit suicide.' So I get home and I get in the car that picks me up [at the airport], I turned the radio on. Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" was on the radio. That record saved my life. Wife. Kids. Fortune. Fame. I didn't give a f--- about none of that. I turned the radio on--and I'm tryin' to express to you how it's so funny. I turned it on and I heard Sarah McLachlan's record and something that day said 'Life is good. It's good to be alive.' "So I go and I buy that record and everything Sarah McLachlan ever made. I listen Sarah McLachlan for one whole year. At the end of the year the Grammy's come around and my manager says 'D, let's go to the Grammy party. We're gonna go to Clive Davis' party.' I didn't want to go. I didn't care about s---. All I cared about was Sarah McLachlan records. So we go to the Grammy party, I get there and who do I see sittin' across the room--'cuz she was on Arista Records under Clive Davis--it's Sarah McLachlan. She was 'that lady.' I go 'Oh my god, it's that lady!' So I'm gettin' all nervous, but then I go 'No, I gotta go over there and tell Sarah McLachlan what her record did for me.' So I pushed through the red carpet and the paparazzi, I get over to Sarah McLachlan, she looks up and she sees DMC standin' there in his full Run DMC regalia, hat, dressed in black, Adidas on. She says 'Run DMC, I love you guys. I love what you guys represent. Your music is so cool. I'm a big fan.' I'm like 'Wow!' Then I go, 'Ms. McLachlan, thank you for tellin' me that but I was suicidal, I didn't know what life was about, I had a lot to live for, but I was upset and was gonna kill myself. I don't know if I would've really done it, but just having suicidal thoughts. Then I heard your record "Angel." Now the record's name is "Angel," you sound like an angel, people say you're an angel, but you're not an angel to me, you're a god.' And I'm goin' on and on and on and she's lookin' at me like 'Oh-kaaaaay. So I finish and she looks at me and she says this to me: 'Thank you for telling me that Darryl, 'cause that's what music is supposed to do.' She shakes my hand and she walks away. Sarah McLachlan "Three years go by. In those three years I'm still tryin' to figure out 'Okay, how does a b-boy grow into a b-man? If I'mma still gonna be in hip-hop, what do I rap about? I ain't tryin' to out rhyme Jay-Z and I ain't tryin' to be meaner than all these new rappers, and I ain't tryin' to dance around in the videos with P. Diddy. Where do I fit in? Should I give it up?' I had just heard on the radio, I heard prominent rappers who were out at the time go 'I don't know if I'm gonna be doin' hip-hop when I'm 40, you know? Hip-hop is a young is a young music.' So I'm sittin' there hurt by these statements. I was like 'What do you mean you're not gonna do hip-hop? I mean does Bruce Springsteen stop playin' guitar 'cuz he's 50? Will the Rolling Stones ever stop touring? Does Eric Clapton and Dylan stop writing? That's crazy.' I was 12-years old before I even thought about makin' a record, sittin' in my room sincerely and innocently writin' rhymes. That's what we do. So I'm tryin' to figure all that out. But then three years go by and I find out that I was adopted. Then I go back and say 'That's what was missing three years ago when I was sittin' there sayin' 'This ain't satisfyin', there's gotta be more to life than this.'' 'Cuz I had thought that I done did it all. I'm DMC, it's don't get no better than that, but there was a void in me. But Sarah McLachlan's record "Angel" kept me alive so I could live another three years and find out that I was adopted. That was the missing piece to my existence. 'Cuz you knew everything about me: first to go Gold. First to go Platinum. First on MTV. First on Rolling Stone. This, this, and this from Hollis. Everything I did. But something was missing in my existence, so I found that out.'I was gonna get all depressed like 'Damn, why did my mother give me away? Abandonment. Why didn't she want me? Am I not good enough? No, that can't be true, 'cuz look at me.' So I said 'Okay, now I have a bigger responsibility than being DMC. My story isn't just about bein' this hip-hop guy DMC. My story is the story of purpose and destiny 'cuz if my mother never thought well enough to give me a better chance and gave me up, I would have never been adopted, I would've have moved to Hollis, I would've never met Run and Jay, none of this rap s--- would've happened the way it did, when it did. That was destiny. So I said 'That's what I'm still here for!' In the midst of all of this Jay gets murdered! Bow! I'm really sayin' 'What does Darryl do? Forget what Run and DMC and Jay did. Jay's gone. Run's a minister and he's sellin' f-----' Phat Farm clothes with his brother Russell. What is Darryl's purpose now?'"So I said, 'Okay, here's what I'mma do. I'm gonna write a record that's gonna help that little kid in the foster home or that little adopted kid or the grown up adopted man. Adoption is just my situation. Whatever situation you're in on this earth, you have a reason. Me, I'm this little adopted kid that grew up in a middle class neighborhood, went to the best schools all my life, Catholic schools all my life, St. Johns University, became king of this whole rap shit. That f-----' was destiny for me, but that's just a small picture of what I represent. So I'mma do this record Then I thought 'That Harry Chapin record was such a heartfelt record. That record is generational. When all of us are dead and gone, that Harry Chapin record'll be here because it was a song, it was some real s---. It wasn't no fake s---. So I'mma do a remake of the Harry Chapin record and his record was so heartbreakin' about the father and son, I'mma give mine a happy ending and I'mma talk about me bein' adopted and how all this came to be, how DMC became…' Then a light goes on in my head. 'I'mma get that lady. That lady whose record three years earlier helped me, I'mma get her to help me make a record that's gonna help somebody else.' Right? "I tell my manager to get Sarah McLachlan's manager on the phone, tell her DMC wants to make a record with her. Everybody in the industry was like 'That s--- will never happen. DMC and Sarah McLachlan? What the f--- are you gonna do?' And it's gonna be a Harry Chapin remix! So I get her on the phone. 'Hey Ms. McLachlan, remember me?' 'Hey Darryl, how could I forget you. What do you want?' I'm like 'Okay, here we go. She's definitely gonna get an order of protection against my a-- 'cuz she's gonna think I'm crazy.' But I say, 'Ms McLachlan, remember when I met you three years earlier and I told you what your record did for me?' She says, 'Yes I do.' I said 'Well, I just found out I was adopted, blahzay-blah this, boom-bang, I was gonna go through these motions, but then I said 'Naw, I'mma make a record 'cuz y'all record helped me.' So I'mma make a record to help somebody else. So I was wonderin' if you'd do this record with me. It's gonna be Harry Chapin's "Cat In The Cradle." Will you do it with me?' She says, 'Yes, I'll do it with you.' I go 'Wow, that was easy.' Then I said 'Alright, I'll bring you to New York, you come in the studio, I'll put you in a hotel…' She says 'No Darryl. You can come to my house to make the record.' So I'm a fan now, I'm losin' it. I'm like goin' crazy to my manager 'Oh s---! She said 'Yes'!'"So I flew out to Sarah McLachlan's house. We get to her house and it wasn't like I took a CD and said 'Come spit your verses.' She brings her band in and we create the record from scratch. This is some real musical s---. I mean I idolize musicians and artists like Dylan and all the great ones. So we finish the record, she looks over at me and says 'Darryl, I gotta tell you something.' I go 'What?' She says 'I was adopted, too.' Her record saved my life. I meet her. She looks at me and says 'Darryl, that's what music is supposed to do. Thank you.' She walks away and I ain't never think I'm gonna see her again. I find out I was adopted and said 'Oh lemme go back to that lady who saved me to help me save some other people.' We through all of that, but then at the end the reason why I resonated with her record and all of this came to pass is because we had something in common. But it took her music to keep me alive and bring us together to prove that. "So when she said 'That's what music is supposed to do,' I said 'I'm not gonna make records that are gonna rhyme about my Adidas again. I ain't gotta talk about my Adidas, 'cuz everybody knows that. I ain't gotta go tell people I'm the King of Rock. Everybody knows that. I ain't gotta tell people I'm from Hollis, I ain't gotta tell people where I'm comin' from. Everybody knows my history. The reason why I'm here now--I'm older now, I'm fortunate enough to still be here. I idolize Dylan! I idolize Lennon! I idolize Springsteen! I idolize Springsteen! I idolize Hendrix! I idolize Sly Stone! All the great ones, Fogerty. There's a war goin' on? Lemme make a record about that. There's an issue with the educational system? Lemme make a record about that. I'mma make a record about me bein' an alcoholic and how I went to rehab. Oh, I just found out I was adopted, I'll make a record about that. Oh I'll just make a record about wakin' up and walkin' to 7-11. Because, for me now, my purpose in this music as a musician, as an artist, and a writer, is much bigger than still bein' that DMC guy. I can be DMC for the rest of my life, but I'll do a disservice to me and to my fans if I don't grow. So that's what my whole new album is about. I'm f-----' DMC, I'm 41-years old and the s--- that I'm rhymin' about is the s--- that I do. And on the other hand, I'm not rhymin' to impress people. I think about even though Run, DMC, and Jay were the baddest muthaf----- to ever pick up a mic and a turntable, we always talked about good, normal stuff that people could relate to. I'm part of the number one rap group in the world and one of my lyrics was 'I'm DMC/in the place to be/I go to St. Johns University.' Wow! These kinds of things that I hear just blow me away. I couldn't be more different than this man but we feel so much the same. We are both sensitive and hurt for unknown reasons. We find beauty and redemption in the oddest places and are willing to do whatever it takes to mend that hurt so others don't also have to feel it . 

I find this similarity in so many people I meet. From my Blackfoot Indian friend Jeff to my beautiful, petite, non-English speaking Russian friend at work, Ala and people everywhere in between, all over the planet.

I believe so many (most) of us, unique in our ways, have so much more in common than we have differences. It's love, I think.

Nessuno mi ha mai detto “volerai”... nessuno mi ha promesso “non morirai”, eppure senz’ ali ho già volato tanto e “ora”, senza alcun rimpianto... di promesse mancate... di cose incompiute... senza pena aggiunta, mi preparo a volare un’altra volta... e il pronunciare questa frase... la vita è bella... nel tuo periodo più buio, non è cosa da niente... dirlo forse è più semplice che crederci... ma se ci credi... forse riuscirai a comprendere il vero significato di questa vita... perché la vita è bella... non perché tu hai... ma perché tu dai... nonostante tutto... già... nonostante tutto.
La felicità la trovi nei piccoli gesti quotidiani... nei silenzi ascoltati.. nei vuoti riempiti.. nei sorrisi regalati e nell’amore vissuto... la vita è bella se cerchiamo di vivere la felicità e non d’inseguirla.
Ma la vita.. non è facile… non lo è mai. Se così non fosse sarebbe tutto più semplice: niente dolore… niente delusione… niente solitudine.. no, nulla di tutto questo è possibile, perché niente di ciò che realmente conta può essere facile. La gioia nasce dal sacrificio… dalle ginocchia sbucciate… dai cuori infranti… perché ciò che ci è stato inculcato da bambini non può essere vero: non ci sono favole… non ci sono eroi o grandi imprese… c’è la determinazione di persone semplici che non si arrendono mai... mai... e io amo con passione la vita, mi spiego? Sono troppo convinta che la vita sia bella anche quando è brutta, che nascere sia il miracolo dei miracoli, vivere: il regalo dei regali. Anche se si tratta d’un regalo molto complicato, molto faticoso, a volte doloroso.
Ma allora... cos’è la vita?
Forse altro non è che un susseguirsi di rinascite…
una ricerca, un volo, un camminare su discese e salite ed un sostare sul ciglio delle ore…
un domandare sospeso dentro i giorni ed un segnare punti interrogativi a ogni risposta...
forse non è che un lento assaporare frutti acerbi che possono maturare soltanto al primo morso...
forse non è che un’altalena o un treno pendolare fra l’essere e l’esserci qui ed ora...
forse non è altro che uno spalancar di finestre e un varcare ininterrotto di soglie, un cercare e un cercarsi nell’incertezza del trovarsi...
Ma forse la vita altro non è che una solare danza nella pioggia del dubbio?

La vita non è aspettare che passi la tempesta, quanto imparare a danzare sotto la pioggia...

Una vita senza mistero è una vita drammaticamente povera. Conoscendo la ragione di ogni cosa, si restringono sempre più le possibilità di provare emozioni, di trasformare queste emozioni in sentimenti... la vita senza mistero è una grande pianura con un cielo grigio... basso... si può camminare per ore.. per giorni e non si vedrà mai nulla di diverso da una sterminata e piatta distesa d’erba... non si incontrerà mai qualcosa capace di farci sobbalzare... niente che provochi in noi quel moto dell’animo meraviglioso e gratuito che si chiama stupore...
Una vita senza mistero è una vita priva di poesia, incapace di accogliere profondamente la bellezza...
Una vita che si guarda allo specchio e.... rimirandosi... non è più in grado di farsi domande...
La vita è fatta di piccole felicità insignificanti, simili a minuscoli fiori. Non è fatta solo di grandi cose, come lo studio, l’amore, i matrimoni, i funerali. Ogni giorno succedono piccole cose, tante da non riuscire a tenerle a mente né a contarle, e tra di esse si nascondono granelli di una felicità appena percepibile... che l’anima respira e grazie alla quale vive...

Vivere

Eppure, che cosa è più strano più misterioso del fatto che un essere umano possa... VIVERE...?
Personalmente  non credo  in chi cerca di etichettare, catalogare il genere umano, incasellandolo e imprigionandolo ordinatamente all’interno di tipologie precostituite basate sulle ideologie politiche, orientamento religioso, razza, ecc, in quanto la personalità umana sfugge, per sua stessa natura, da tutto questo. Essa è come un complesso e magnifico mosaico, composto da infinite tessere, chi si sofferma unicamente su alcune di esse, ne coglierà solo dei dettagli, ma soltanto chi sarà in grado di collocarle nel giusto ordine e di osservarle poi nel loro insieme, potrà apprezzare e capire il significato di ciò che nel mosaico è raffigurato, con la consapevolezza che una parte d’esso resterà comunque oscura...


L'ultima cosa che l'uomo scopre è sé stesso. È una verità strana, eppure universale, che la sete umana della conoscenza debba cominciare da quello che è più lontano e finire con quello che è più vicino. L'uomo primitivo ha studiato i cieli, ma soltanto l'uomo moderno comincia ad esplorare i misteri della propria anima...

O giovane, che fantastichi di essere negletto dagli Dei, sappi che se diventi peggiore dovrai trasmigrare poi nelle anime peggiori, e che se invece migliorerai, andrai con le migliori. Così, in ogni successione di vita e di morte, agirai e soffrirai come si conviene che tu agisca e soffra per tua parte e per tua stessa mano. Perché questa è infatti la giustizia del cielo. Moltissimi uomini sono un mistero per sé stessi; molti sono perfino inconsci della esistenza del mistero. Se noi dovessimo domandare ad un uomo comune che cosa sia lui, l'essere umano vivente; che accada quando egli pensa, sente, agisce; e quale sia la causa della lotta fra il bene e il male, che egli pur sente entro il suo petto, non solo egli non saprebbe rispondere, ma le domande stesse gli apparirebbero strane e nuove.

Nella sua identità più profonda la vita ci sembra un mistero grande e ineffabile. E questo per una sola ragione: è la proprietà fondamentale e più profonda dell'uomo. L'uomo è la sua vita, che non è soltanto la sua ragione, la sua razionalità, la sua autocoscienza... né è soltanto la sua corporeità, i suoi sentimenti, le sue emozioni. L'uomo è una unitotalità personale, e ciò grazie alla “qualità”... cioè alla d'istintività... della sua vita. La vita ha una dignità grande (è cioè un mistero profondo) proprio in quanto “avvolge” l'essere umano nella sua totalità: la vita è dentro e oltre la ragione, dentro e oltre i sentimenti e le emozioni, dentro e oltre la precarietà della sua esistenza, dentro e oltre anche la stessa bellezza e ricchezza d'essere. La vita è raccogliere dentro e fuori di sé dei “passi trascendenti”, è una materia finalizzata e sensata nonostante l'assurdità di molte storie personali. La domanda sulla vita non ha alcuna sensatezza... e non merita di essere posta... in un contesto unidimensionalmente materiale, perché la domanda sulla vita non è una domanda sulla materia, mentre la domanda sulla totalità e ragionevolezza della materia è esattamente la domanda sulla vita.
La vita, insomma, non è unicamente una realtà biologica, chimica e fisica...
Vorrei che potessi ricordare che ogni giorno della tua vita ti è data la possibilità di “sporcarti”. Anche quando cadi e ti sbucci le ginocchia,anche quando speri e un po’ di abbatti,anche quando urli e un po’ sei muta.
Puoi prendere una tavolozza e dipingere anche se non sai disegnare... puoi dipingere le cose che senti,quelle che vedi,quelle che tocchi,quelle che indossi,quello che puoi inventare e che puoi immaginare soltanto tu perchè è dentro il tuo cuore... puoi prendere il mondo tra le mani e sentirlo tuo... puoi stropicciarlo tra le tue dita e stringerlo forte... puoi fare questo ed altro con il mondo perché tu ne sei l’anima... ecco perchè devi sporcarti… nulla ti macchia più del mondo... perchè mentre ci corri dentro e te lo passi tra le mani,quel mondo ti ha già sparso addosso un po’ di vita... yes
Ma ancora... allora cos’è la vita... il senso della vita?

È vivere sapendo che domani non ci saremo più. E, quindi, perché rimandare quando è ora che esistiamo? Dunque, vivere la nostra unica occasione come straordinaria, poiché non si ripeterà e viverla con saggezza, sapendo cos’è la vita?
Io penso che, noi siamo... il sogno di una lezione prima di noi stessi... che ha passato la fiaccola della consapevolezza del tempo e dello spazio affinchè la nostra mera esistenza potesse arricchire in modo incommensurabile tutto cio’ che esiste...

Ma lasciamo la parola ai filosofi...

La vita umana si disegna in un arco che va da una partenza piuttosto indistinta, dove siamo soltanto “una persona fra le altre” come dice Thomas Nagel, a un percorso che, più o meno lungo, traccia un’identità personale unica e irripetibile. Come individui siamo la nostra storia, come persone siamo un tipo di viventi che deve costruire storie. Il progetto esistenziale si realizza secondo quelle che chiamiamo pratiche di personalizzazione: noi personalizziamo l’esistenza, così come si rende unica una dotazione comune a molti... esistere è solo l’inizio... personalizzare il mondo è il nostro compito.

Se l’uomo, diventando adulto, passa dalla tappa istintivo-riflettente del suo sviluppo a quella umana nel senso stretto, nella quale per stabilire un modo di vita e di comportamento, comincia a dominare l’intelletto, davanti a lui sorge, immancabilmente, il problema del senso della sua vita.

Molti filosofi si sono lambiccati il cervello per risolvere questo problema.

Il problema del senso della vita è stato “riconosciuto”, da molti essere uno “pseudo problema”, cioè un problema che in partenza non ha una risposta. Nell’antica Grecia c’era una persona che faceva di questa semplice idea una vera e propria filosofia, uno dei più grandi filosofi, Platone.

Platone ha riassunto quest’idea del senso della vita nel cosiddetto “daimon”; “il daimon”, secondo Platone è dunque un essere che incontriamo prima ancora della nostra nascita, poi però scordiamo e dobbiamo inconsciamente trovarlo. Sarà difficile, come se dovessimo trovare la nostra vera strada appunto, ma dobbiamo farcela, dobbiamo trovare il nostro vero io, il nostro vero senso della vita personale, unico anche se questo non è facile, dobbiamo però mettercela tutta.

Secondo, Pascal invece la questione più importante dell’uomo è l’interrogativo sul senso della vita, di cui l’uomo ha una conoscenza tormentosa. Infatti afferma di non sapere ne chi lo abbia messo al mondo e ne che cosa sia il mondo, affermando di essere in un ignoranza spaventosa di tutto.
Pascal reputa mostruoso che gli individui occupati dalle mille faccende del vivere possano rimanere indifferenti a ciò che l’uomo è a se stesso.
Lo studio dell’uomo e quello di Dio e dell’anima secondo Pascal è il solo che sia appropriato all’uomo. Tutto il resto è svago e inutile curiosità... secondo Pascal l’enigma della vita e dell’uomo si risolve solamente mediante la fede.

Sartre invece... avverte allora che è l'uomo a dare un senso e un significato al mondo, e non viceversa. La coscienza non può astenersi da dare un senso al mondo, e questo senso gli è attribuito in primo luogo dalle emozioni che l'uomo prova intenzionalmente nei confronti della realtà, la quale ne rimane inevitabilmente condizionata.
L'uomo ha dunque la possibilità decisiva di dare significato e valore all'esistenza in assoluta libertà rispetto a qualsiasi principio che si vuole precostituito e in questo risiede l'ottimismo di chi può decidere da sé il proprio futuro e fare da sé le proprie scelte...
 ...da Aristotele a Catullo, Shakespeare, Schopenhauer, Spinoza, Marx, Cechov, Freud, Wittgenstein, Sartre, Beckett, persino i Monty Python - hanno affrontato la questione, che è loro parere divenuta particolarmente complessa nel mondo moderno... invece di confrontarci a viso aperto con il sentimento strisciante dell'insensatezza della vita, preferiamo riempirla con una moltitudine di cose... la risposta di Eagleton è toccante e originale... il senso della vita non sta solo nella felicità, intesa come piena fioritura delle potenzialità dell'individuo, ma anche nell'amore, ovvero la capacità di condividere e realizzare progetti creativi assieme ad altri, e alla società nel suo complesso. ...il senso della vita assomiglia a suonare in un'orchestra jazz... l'espressione libera e piena di tutti assieme e di ciascuno per sé.

Ogni giorno ognuno di noi si ritrova a chiedersi cos’è la vita, quale possa essere il suo senso. Se ci soffermassimo a pensare più di un istante nel cercare una risposta adeguata a questa domanda rischieremmo di appannare la nostra mente e di ritrovarci seduti dallo psicanalista.

La vita in sé è molto strana ma davvero tanto strana. Oggi noi siamo sempre indaffarati nelle nostre frenetiche occupazioni quotidiane, spesso anche inutili e non riusciamo a cogliere il lato più bello di essa. A volte sono le grandi cose della vita che ci colpiscono, ci impressionano, ma non ci rendiamo conto che sono le piccole che messe insieme permettono di rendere possibili le grandi. 

C’è chi dice che la vita non ha uno scopo preciso, non ha lo slancio giusto, ma semplicemente è uno scorrere. Questo significherebbe che la nostra intera esistenza è guidata solo da stimoli senza senso. Tutte queste idee potrebbero sembrare delle sciocchezze colossali se solo ci fermassimo per un attimo a riflettere che l’unico argomento che nella vita ritorna costantemente è l’affetto e l’amore. L’amore inteso non solo come il più comune sentimento per il partner, ma come calore interiore che salva le nostre anime dal gelo degli inverni della disperazione. E’ l’amore per la vita stessa. E’ quell’amore che celebra la vita, che ci spinge a pensare che per alcune cose nella vita varrebbe la pena morire, ma che per molte altre vale la pena di vivere. Questo amore per la vita ci porta ad aiutare gli altri soltanto perché è bello dare una mano a quelli che ci circondano.

Il mondo moderno è pieno di discutibili distrazioni, di scadenze e di inutili e vane priorità. Veniamo sommersi da una valanga di paure e desideri che ci spingono in una gara impossibile da vincere.

Un giorno tutto si fermerà e magari sarà troppo tardi, perciò sarebbe necessario non permettere di gettare via un singolo prezioso istante. Sarà necessario seguire i nostri sogni, credere in essi, con energia e entusiasmo, mettendoci coraggio e impegno per viverli. Non importa se questi sogni non si concretizzino o quanto ci impiegheremo per concretizzarli, l’importante sarà sentirsi bene nel farlo.

Seguire il proprio cammino è un impresa di sicuro non semplice ma incredibilmente gratificante.

Anche se durante il cammino della vita si commettono dei grossi errori nulla è irreparabile, vivremo comunque un’avventura unica e stupefacene......”la Vita”.

Celebrata non solo dai filosofi dell’antica Grecia ma in epoca moderna anche dai cantautori come Antonello Venditti: non ci rimane che dire:”che fantastica storia è la vita”,” e quando penso che sia finita è proprio allora che comincia la salita...



FILOSOFIA DI VITA

Un professore di filosofia, in piedi davanti alla sua classe,
prese un grosso vasetto di marmellata vuoto e comincio a riempirlo con
dei sassi, di circa 3 cm. di diametro.
Una volta fatto chiese agli studenti se il contenitore fosse pieno
ed essi risposero di si.

Allora il Professore tirò fuori una scatola piena di piselli,

li versò dentro il vasetto e lo scosse delicatamente.
Ovviamente i piselli si infilarono nei vuoti lasciati tra i vari sassi.

Ancora una volta il Professore chiese agli studenti se il vasetto fosse
pieno ed essi, ancora una volta, dissero di si.
Allora il Professore tirò fuori una scatola piena di sabbia e
la verso dentro il vasetto.
Ovviamente la sabbia riempi ogni altro spazio vuoto lasciato e coprì tutto.
Ancora una volta il Professore chiese agli studenti se il vasetto fosse
pieno e questa volta essi risposero di si, senza dubbio alcuno.

Ora, disse il Professore, voglio che voi capiate che questo
vasetto rappresenta la vostra vita.

I sassi sono le cose importanti - la vostra famiglia, i vostri

amici,la vostra salute, i vostri figli - le cose per le quali se tutto
il resto fosse perso, la vostra vita sarebbe ancora piena.

I piselli sono le altre cose per voi importanti: come il
vostro lavoro, la vostra casa , la scuola ....
La sabbia e' tutto il resto... le piccole cose .
Se mettete dentro il vasetto per prima la sabbia, continuò il

Professore, non ci sarà spazio per i piselli e per i sassi.
Lo stesso vale per la vostra vita. Se dedicate tutto il vostro tempo e le
vostre energie alle piccole cose, non avrete spazio per le cose che per voi
sono importanti.
Dedicatevi alle cose che vi rendono felici: giocate con i vostri

figli, portate il vostro partner al cinema, uscite con gli amici. Ci
sarà sempre tempo per lavorare, pulire la casa, lavare l'auto. Prendetevi
cura dei sassi per prima - le cose che veramente contano. Fissate le
vostre priorità... IL RESTO E' SOLO SABBIA.

E allora... viviamo... respiriamo... mordiamo... questa Vita.....

Un lungo viaggio che si chiama Vita...

in cui non riuscirai mai a vedere abbastanza
e camminando comprendi che non a tutto si può dare una risposta,che nulla ti viene regalato e che gli abbracci non sono dovuti... viaggiando ti accorgerai che l’amore non è una scatola che puoi chiudere con un coperchio... ma una stanza senza pareti e soffitto che si chiama cuore... a tratti grande da contenere un oceano... a tratti piccola da esplodere con una lacrima... impari come si vive il dolore e che... se ti conosci abbastanza... le parole assumono un’altra forma e non ti possono più ferire...

Nassim Haramein, The "Holofractographic Universe"

On a friends Facebook wall I clicked a link for Nassim Haramein's DVD "Crossing the Event Horizon: Rise to the Equation".  

I was totally fascinated by Haramein from the first moment I heard him speak. I am still trying to wrap my brain around his theories and equations but I find it all very exciting and captivating.

Before I even knew what they where I have been "driven" to create sacred geometry mandalas. So naturally I resonate with this man and his important and exciting work.

Nassim Haramein was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1962.

As early as 9 years old, Nassim was already developing the basis for a unified hyperdimensional theory of matter and energy, which he eventually called the "Holofractographic Universe."

Nassim has spent most of his life researching the fundamental geometry of hyperspace, studying a variety of fields from theoretical physics, cosmology, quantum mechanics, biology and chemistry to anthropology and ancient civilizations. Combining this knowledge with a keen observation of the behavior of nature, he discovered a specific geometric array that he found to be fundamental to creation, and the foundation for his Unified Field Theory emerged.

This unification theory, known as the Haramein-Rauscher metric (a new solution to Einstein's Field Equations that incorporates torque and Coriolis effects) and his most recent paper The Schwarzschild Proton, lays down the foundation of what could be a fundamental change in our current understandings of physics and consciousness. This groundbreaking theory has now been delivered to the scientific community through peer-reviewed papers and presentations at international physics conferences. Further, The Schwarzschild Proton paper has recently received the prestigious "Best Paper Award" in the field of physics, quantum mechanics, relativity, field theory, and gravitation at the University of Liège, Belgium during the 9th International Conference CASYS '09.

Fluent in both French and English, Mr. Haramein has been giving lectures and seminars on his unification theory for over 10 years. His lectures are multimedia presentations that lead his audiences through the validity of his theories with observational and theoretical data. He has presented at such institutions as the Department of Physics at Georgia Tech, the Department of Physics at University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Fellows of the Department of Education at the University of Montreal, and his unification model has now been delivered to the American Physical Society.

In the past 20 years, Mr. Haramein has directed research teams of physicists, electrical engineers, mathematicians and other scientists. He has founded a non-profit organization, the Resonance Project Foundation, where, as the Director of Research, he continues exploring unification principles and their implications in our world today. The foundation is actively developing a research park on the island of Hawai'i where science, sustainability, and green technology come together.

"We are the Center of Creation" Hello, esteemed viewers, and welcome to Science and Spirituality on Supreme Master Television. Today, in Part 2 of our program  (Note:  other parts of the interview are not available) we present more excerpts from our interview with pioneering physicist Mr. Nassim Haramein.

Albert Einstein’s unified field theory sought to unify the forces of electromagnetism and gravity, however Einstein was unable to complete the theory during his lifetime. Mr. Haramein has pursued this theory and laid the foundation for its completion. His solutions to Einstein’s Field Equations, which describe the properties of a gravitational field surrounding a given mass, incorporate the concepts of torque, or spin, and the Coriolis effect, the sideways deflection of an object moving across the surface of a rotating body caused by the body’s rotation, to produce his Unified Field Theory.

In 2003, he founded the non-profit organization, The Resonance Project Foundation in Hawaii, USA which is “dedicated to the unification of all sciences and philosophies emerging from a complete and applied view of the physics underlying the wheelworks of nature.” Supreme Master Television recently had the honor to speak with Mr. Haramein about the Unified Field Theory.

Today we’ll discuss a wide range of subjects with Mr. Haramein, from space travel to the relationship between geometry and spirituality. Central to Mr. Haramein’s concept of the Universe is the idea of “vacuum” or space, with which we interact and create our reality. In this model, every atom, including those we are composed of, is a black hole that both absorbs information from the vacuum and also radiates information out into it like a white hole, or a black hole operating in reverse.

Nassim Haramein:  The vacuum could be called God. It’s everywhere, it knows everything, it can be found at any place, it knows all languages, it self-organizes, and it organizes everything. That is God.

Can the power of the vacuum possibly be applied to address urgent issues such as climate change?

If we start to understand these new physics, if we understand that the atom is a mini black hole that’s fed by the vacuum continuously, that’s why the electron spins for billions of years with no apparent input energy, then we start to understand the mechanics of the foundation of creation.

Look at the density of the vacuum, which is 10 to the 93 grams per centimeter cubed.   Let me give you an idea. If I took all the stars in our Universe; there’s 100 billion to 300 billion stars in the galaxy and there’s billions of galaxies and I took them all and I put them all in a centimeter cube of space, the density of that centimeter cube would be 10 to the 55th grams per centimeter cubed.   That is 39 orders of magnitude less than the density of the vacuum. We know it’s there.

So if we were to extract one billionth of a billionth of a billionth of a billionth of a percent of what’s there, we would have enough energy to run this whole planet. There would be no pollution, there would be no carbon output, and there would be an enormous amount of energy for anybody that needs it, anywhere, anywhere on our planet, anywhere in our Universe.

Mr. Haramein believes that the time is fast approaching when science will fully understand how the Universe operates.

We have to understand this fundamental force of gravity and the structure of the vacuum in order to do this. And we’re very, very close. I believe that this is imminent. This is not in 20 generations from now. I think that we’re going to see that change in our generation. I believe we’re going to see that change in the next 10 years.

Interplanetary travel will no longer be a dream when this new age of science arrives.

I predict that within a very short amount of time, and I’m talking 20 years and so, people will be able to get on a ship and visit Jupiter for the weekend, go to the moon and so on, casually, just because we’ve understood how to use gravitational fields and we’re able to move with the Universe instead of fight it. And I think this is a very important part of our evolution. It’s crucial to human evolution and to transcending the limited resources that we have on our planet.

“Flower of Life”

Sacred geometry is said to be a visual expression of the Universe. For example, the famous “Flower of Life” has been carved or etched into many temples and holy places around the world.  Another expression of the Universe is the double torus shape seen in weather patterns on Earth.

Many masters that were able to reach that point of stillness, that point of singularity at the center of their existence, actually witness the fundamental geometric principle of creation. That double torus we were talking about is the function of the space-time manifold, but when it goes to the zero point, where it goes to singularity, where absolute stillness is present, the geometry goes to the minimum amount of vectors for stability, the minimum amount of vectors for absolute equilibrium. It’s looking for absolute equilibrium. And it’s going to where it’s infinitely cold.

So it’s minimizing the vectors. Just like a water droplet cools off and goes to a very specific set of vectors, four-fold geometry, hexagonal geometry and makes the snowflake. In my equation I show that, actually, the double torus is a result of this cube octahedron, this tetrahedral array, torqueing, producing the spin. But at the central part of the spin is stillness. And this tetrahedral array, this tetrahedron, is like a 3D Star of David, a 3D six-pointed star, which you find in the heart of the Buddha, you find it in the Jewish tradition.

Spirituality is the physics that we haven't yet understood.

Water is the source of life on Earth and is sacred. A newborn is composed of approximately 75% water. In short, we humans are fundamentally connected to water.

Six-fold geometry or four-fold geometry is fundamental to the structure of space-time. And actually that geometry is matched by the geometry of the water structure. And that's why all life emerges from water. Because the information is going from the structure of space-time to the water molecule and then the molecule produces the biological organization of our biosphere. And many, many researchers look for the seed of consciousness in the brain.

They keep forgetting that the brain is 90% water, (and) only 10% grey matter. And they're looking in the grey matter, but the fact is that if you remove the grey matter, you still can have consciousness. For instance, there're people that are born with very little grey matter in their heads, mostly water, and that function absolutely normally. However, if you remove the water, you're done, right?

Meditation brings one in tune with the Universe, and merging with the “Supreme Godhead” or the “One” is spoken of in many spiritual and religious traditions.

Meditation is a way during your awakened state to actually connect with that inner part that's going towards singularity. That sense of center, it's like an axis of spin of your body, is represented in the Vedic tradition, in the Buddhist tradition as the vortex entering the crown (chakra), the kundalini spiral going up, and the chakras are octaves at each level.

So the third eye, the throat, the heart, the aura? (solar plexus), the sexual chakra and the base are all part of the octaves of these spirals that meet at the heart chakra. So now you can start to actually describe some of the most esoteric knowledge in terms of physics - and the physics of creation, not just any physics; the physics that makes everything occur.

Nassim Haramein believes that when we interact with the vacuum we receive feedback, thus creating our reality. How then does the law of karma fit into this model?

In your view, is there a difference between putting something positive out there versus negative? Let's say somebody is doing something positive, good for the world, versus somebody who is polluting a lake, more on the negative side.

Because of this feedback, it will be fed back to you. The law of karma is actually the description of that fundamental feedback of Creation. So if you send a lot of negative thoughts into the field, then most likely a lot of negative things are going to happen to you and to your environment around you. And so when we look at our environment on our planet, when we look at where we brought this planet to, to basically the brink of destruction, and only 150 years of technological advancement, it's because the technology we're developing is mostly based on warfare and on destruction and on competition.

But we have that choice. We can actually start to become harmonious with nature, feedback more positive information to the vacuum. And then the technology that will develop is more positive technology. And the synchronicity that will occur in your life will start to support your path more and more. And it will become more and more apparent as you move forward.

To tap into our true potential we have to turn inward.

I think what's important for the viewers is to know that they have an infinite potential within them, not in an esoteric way, but even in their material existence; all the atoms they're made of is an infinite amount of information, an infinite amount of knowledge already present within them. They can access it if they take just a little bit of time, even if it's five minutes every day to just turn their senses inward and go towards that singularity, go towards that point of stillness within themselves.

Meditation, prayer or any technique that allows them to turn their senses inward instead of being outwardly, take the time to center, then they get closer and closer and closer to that singularity. They connect with the infinite nature of their existence, the infinite nature of the space around them and the infinite wisdom that's already within them. And then their dharma will just unfold beautifully, because everybody has a dharma. Everybody has a mission. Everybody has something to do here that's very important.
